Grad 2012 Portraits - LifeTouch studios will be at GFSS next week, Feb. 7, 8 & 9th for grad portrait sittings. We have been making announcements for the past two weeks reminding grads to come to the office and book a sitting time. The sitting fee is $25 payable to Lifetouch at the time of the sitting and includes approximately 15-20 proofs and an 11 x 14 graduation composite copy of the Class of 2012 and vinyl folio. Photos will be taken in Room 203 on the second floor. There are pamphlets in the office with the sign up sheets to advise what items can be brought to the sitting, clothing, etc.
GFSS Grad Fundraiser BORSCHT & PIE Luncheon - The Grads are sponsoring a borscht & pie luncheon at the USCC Hall on Saturday, Feb. 18th from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Admission is $12 (for ages 11 and up), $6 (ages 7-10) and children ages 6 and under are FREE. Come out and support the Grad Class of 2012!
Important Parent Health Information - Within the last 2 months, there have been at least 8 serious cases of ecstasy toxicity in BC, including several deaths.

2011/12 Yearbooks for Pre-Sale - Yearbook orders are now being taken for this year's 2011/12 yearbook. The cost is $42.00.

The Courage To Come Back Awards - Who Inspires You? A Call for Nominations: Deadline Feb. 20, 2012. A friend, a neighbour, a colleague? Share their story and inspire others. INTERESTED VENDORS? - GFSS is looking to re-instate a lunch program. Initially, it will be once a week. The school is inviting any interested Vendors to contact Mr. Stewart at 250-442-8285.

Attendance Expectations for GFSS - If your child is away, sick or has to leave early from school (or arrive late), please call the school in the morning or give your child a written note to give to the office explaining their absence. For a full day absence, the office needs to be notified either before or on the day of the absence. Please read the policy on "excused" and "unexcused" absences at the link to the left of this page (Attendance Expectations).

Speaking Up! - The BC Confederation of Parent Advisory Councils (BCCPAC) has published a parent guide to advocating for students in public schools. There is a copy of the guide in the office if any parents wish to come in and review it.
Transcripts for Applying to Post Secondary Institutions - All Grads who are planning to go to a post secondary institution need to fill out a PSI form on the Ministry of Education website. The following are instructions for ordering transcripts to be sent to your choice of post secondary institution(s):
1. go the provincial education website www.bced.gov.bc.ca/exams
2. click on Student Secure web icon , enter it
3. create an account **you must know your PEN number!!**
4. click on PSI forms and follow the directions
Filling out this online form will ensure your high school transcripts are sent to the post secondary institutions,
otherwise they will not be sent out.
Lost & Found - Located in the office. Items will be laid out on a table outside the Weight Room. Any items left after a week will be taken to the Thrift Shop (if clean).
Medical Conditions/Allergies - Please contact the school office if your son or daughter has a medical condition or life-threatening allergy that would require administration of medication at school. A Medical Alert form and a Request for Administration of Medication at School form will need to be completed.
