Hutton's Dress Code Guideline
School is closed on Monday, May 21st for Victoria Day. School in session Tuesday to Friday. May 22 - 25 next week.

News: It has been noted that with the arrival of much warmer weather we are having girl students arrive in clothing that does not conform to our Dress Code Guidelines. Many girls are wearing very short shorts and tiny tops. Girls of all ages are asked to dress more conservatively. Please click on our guidelines (above) for more information.
News-Hutton School's Intermediate Track Meet takes place on Thursday, May 31st and our Primary Splash is scheduled for Thursday, June 7th. Information has gone home and hopefully parents will be able to volunteer either for field events or in the concession. Please return your Intermediate Track & Field form by May 17th and your Primary Splash form by May 23rd. The concession for the Intermeidate Track Meet will be open 9:00 a.m - -3:00 p.m. Our concession for the Sports and Splash is open from 9:00 - 1:00 p.m.. Please note that the District Track Meet will not take place this year
News - The Grand Forks Public Library is sponsoring "The Kid's Book Club". Meetings will begin on Saturday, May 26th at 11:00 a.m. at the Public Library. Contact Lizanne at 250-442-3944 or leastwood@gfpl.ca for more information. This month's book club selection is Jeremy Thatcher, Dragon Hatcher. Copies are available at the Grand Forks Public Library.
News: Kindergarten Registrations for September 2012 are now being taken. If your child turns 5 before December 31, 2012 then he/she is eligible for full day kindergarten in September 2012. Please drop by the office between 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. to register. A copy of your child's birth certificate is required. Early registration aids in planning classes. Please feel free to call if you can't drop by in the near future.
News: Swim lessons are over and were very fun and educational. Thank you to our Parent Advisory Council for helping out with the costs.
News- Our Roots of Empathy Program continues with visits from "our" babies, Juno and Sawyer, to our Kindergarten and Kindergarten/Grade One classes. Roots of Empathy is a program that teaches children about feelings, their own feelings, and the feelings of others. Understanding people's feelings leads to empathy and babies are the perfect "little people" to help us teach our students this very important, lifelong skill.
News - Popcorn on sale each Wednesday thanks to our grade 1/2 and 2/3 parents. Just $1.00 a bag.
News - SCHOOL BUS COLOURS- The District school buses now display specific colours for each route. The colour bars will be displayed immediately to the rear of the entrance door and under the first passenger window. The colours are as follows:
GREEN - Route 1 (Eholt, Carson, Reservoir) - Rick Kost
WHITE - Route 3 (North Fork, Brown Creek, Granby) - Pete Kootnekoff
BROWN - Route 4 (Almond Gardens) - Lynn McArthur

News- A BIG thank you to the parents who operate our Breakfast Room, who compile our lunch orders and who distribute our fruit and veggie program samples. We couldn't do it without you and the students certainly appreciate the help you give. If you can help this year, please let Mrs. Sorensen know. Lunch orders are compiled approximately once every five weeks and we need help in the breakfast room from 8:00 am till 8:30. Please consider helping out!!
News Our StrongStart Centre is open 5 days a week. Our new schedule for 2011 -12 is as follows:- Monday morning from 8:30 to 11:30 am - Tuesday from 12:30 - 3:30 pm - Wednesday evening from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday from 8:30 - 11:30 and Friday from 8:30 - 11:30.. StrongStart is open to all children who are 5 and under (until they begin Kindergarten). The children enjoy playing with other children, playing in our gym, and using the library to find a special book. A parent or caregiver must accompany the child. Watch for new programs and feel free to phone 250-442-8275 for more information or drop by and speak to our coordinator, Brenda Plotnikoff.
News-Volunteer driver requirements: a minimum of $2,000,000 liability is required before the School District's policy will come into effect if there is an accident while driving children. All drivers are asked to obtain a new driver's abstract in September or before the first field trip. A Criminal Record Check is also required when volunteers will be in charge of a group of students. In the past, Criminal Record Checks were free for volunteers, however, beginning February 1, 2011 it will cost $20.00 to obtain a record check. Please pick up a form and an envelope from the school office when applying for a Criminal Record Check.
