INTERMEDIATE SKI PROGRAM - The intermediate ski program is starting at Phoenix Mountain this week with the following dates:
Mondays: Feb. 6th, 13th & 20th

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION - We are now taking registration for Kindergarten for the 2012-2013 school year. If your child will be five years old by December 31, 2012, they are eligible to start kindergarten in September 2012. Early registration is encouraged so that planning for next year can begin as soon as possible. Drop into the school office to register and please bring your child's birth certificate and B.C. Care Card with you.
BASKETBALL - Intermediate Basketball has started up . Click on the tab above "Extra-Curricular" for practice times and games.
FAMILY FUN NIGHT - Our Parent Advisory Council is planning a "Family Fun Night" on Wednesday, February 15th from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. This will be a fun night for the whole family with lots of activities planned. If you can offer any assistance in helping with this event please call the school. An information and signup sheet has been sent home.
PAC MEETING - The next PAC meeting will be Monday, February 20th at 6:45. All parents are welcomed to attend.
DRUMMING WORKSHOP - Russell Podgurny will be running a weekly drumming group for students who are interested at GFSS from 3:30-4:30 each Thursday until Spring Break. There is no charge for this group. Please phone the school for more information.

VOLUNTEERS - Thank you for volunteering in your child's classroom, or around the school. However, in keeping with district policy and in order to keep our students safe, we must ask those who are assisting in the school with our students to obtain a Criminal Record Check (form available at the office). There is a $20.00 fee for this payable directly at the RCMP station when you drop off your Criminal Record Check form.

COLOURED SCHOOL BUSES - The District school buses will now display specific colours for each route. The colour bars will be displayed immediately to the rear of the entrance door and under the first passenger window. The colours are as follows:

HEAD LICE - Please check your child's hair on a weekly basis, and if necessary on a daily basis, for head lice. Click here to get to Interior Health's website for information on how to check and treat head lice.
PERLEY STRONGSTART at the Glanville Family Centre - StrongStart is a free program and available to children not yet eligible for Kindergarten. A parent or care provider must be in attendance. AIR QUALITY ALERT - If our school receives an Air Quality Alert, parents can request that their children remain indoors on those days. The school will declare these days "in-door choice days" for students. Contact your child's classroom teacher if you have any particular requests for your child on these days.

BUS PERMISSION SLIPS - A reminder to parents that if their child will be riding a different bus or getting off at a different stop, other than their assigned stop, the Office must receive a note from a parent or guardian with full details. The Office Administration will complete a "Bus Permission" slip for the student to give to the bus driver for that particular day.
